The semi-official Iranian news agency Fars reported that Tehran has categorically rejected the American proposal for a ceasefire. Citing informed sources, Fars states that the United States sent an offer for a 48-hour ceasefire on April 4 through "one of the friendly countries."
"Iran's response to this proposal did not come in written form, but rather followed in the form of a response on the ground and the continuation of heavy attacks," the Iranian news agency reports.
Meanwhile, the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports that negotiations are completely blocked, and American demands are deemed unacceptable.
The current round of negotiations, initiated by regional countries led by Pakistan with the aim of achieving a ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran, has reached a dead end. This information was confirmed to WSJ by the mediators themselves in the talks.
According to their sources, Iran officially notified the mediators of its unwillingness to meet with American officials in Islamabad in the coming days, explaining that the United States has demands that Tehran considers absolutely unacceptable.
