This is similar to how the social app handles message editing, an option that was introduced in 2024, 11 years after direct messaging was enabled on Instagram (in 2013). Users can now only edit comments they have left from their account, and the process is straightforward. Simply tap the "Edit" button below your comment to open a text box where you can adjust, revise, or edit what was written, then press the blue checkmark to save the changes. Meta states that comments can be edited as many times as you want within that 15-minute window, so if multiple changes are needed, the option is available. Comments can be displayed in multiple ways on Instagram, including in Stories as of 2024, so the method for editing them is a welcome addition. The new option is just the latest in a series of changes Meta has introduced to its social app in the past month. Earlier in March, the company announced it is removing end-to-end encryption from direct messages on Instagram. At the end of the month, Meta also began testing Instagram Plus, a subscription service that unlocks new features for the app's Stories function.
