Speaking in Seoul, the head of the UN nuclear agency, Rafael Grossi, noted that a rapid increase in activity has been observed at the five-megawatt reactor, the reprocessing unit, the light-water reactor, and other facilities at North Korea's Yongbyon nuclear complex. He stated that these changes indicate the country has achieved very serious growth in its capacity to produce nuclear weapons. According to his assessment, North Korea's nuclear program is currently estimated to amount to several dozen warheads. The statement followed new signs of operation and modernization at nuclear facilities, further increasing international community concerns over North Korea's continued arsenal development and its potential impact on the security situation on the Korean Peninsula and beyond.
