This marks the first half-distance triathlon ever organized in our country, with added significance as it will also host the Bosnia and Herzegovina National Championship in the half-distance triathlon.

It is particularly noteworthy that there are only a few races of this type in the entire region—the Jajce Triathlon Challenge is one of just five half-distance triathlon races in this part of Europe, further confirming its international importance and potential.

Interest in participation is already exceptionally high. To date, over 120 competitors from 11 countries, representing more than 30 triathlon clubs, have registered, positioning Jajce as a new sports destination on the regional map.

Triathlon is a sport that combines three disciplines—swimming, cycling, and running—and competitors in Jajce will tackle an attractive course that passes through the city's unique natural and historical surroundings. The race takes place near the Pliva Lakes and the famous watermills, offering a rare combination of sport and natural beauty even on the European stage.

The event is organized in collaboration with the Triathlon and Pentathlon Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the Municipality of Jajce, and is held in accordance with World Triathlon rules, ensuring a high level of safety and professional organization.

The event program spans two days. Saturday is reserved for a children's duathlon race, while Sunday features the main race, which will include the country's top triathletes competing for the national champion title.

Beyond its sporting significance, the event also holds strong tourism and economic potential. A large number of participants are expected to arrive accompanied by family and friends, contributing to the promotion of Jajce as an active tourism destination.

The organizers invite all citizens to be part of this story, take to the streets, and support the competitors.

"We want Jajce to live and breathe sports that weekend. This is not just a race but an event that brings people together, promotes a healthy lifestyle, and shows that Bosnia and Herzegovina can organize major international sports events," the organizers stated.

Registrations for participation are open until May 15, 2026, and more information is available on the event's official website https://jajcetriathlonchallenge.com and social media channels.
