In a TikTok address to young people, Kyriakos Mitsotakis acknowledged that the measure may seem unfair but insisted it is necessary for health reasons. He said the design of certain apps is addictive and that their profit model is based on young people's attention and how much time they spend in front of screens, reports the portal Ekatimerini. Mitsotakis pointed out that such behavior "takes away part of the innocence and freedom" of young people and that it must stop. The Prime Minister said the bill will be submitted to parliament during the summer, with the aim of taking effect on January 1 of next year. The Greek government has already banned the use of mobile phones in primary and secondary schools.
