Geely continues its rapid expansion of model offerings in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Following the well-received Coolray, Cityray, and Starray models, which were powered by conventional turbocharged gasoline engines, the significantly more advanced Starray EM-i has now been added to the lineup.
Of course, this is an SUV model that also comes on the familiar CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform, developed in collaboration with Volvo. With a length of 4,670 mm and a wheelbase of 2,777 mm, the Geely Starray EM-i positions itself at the top of the C-segment SUVs, and with its particularly generous rear seat space, it even encroaches on larger SUV classes.
What sets the Starray EM-i apart from other models in the lineup is its new-generation hybrid powertrain. This is not an ordinary hybrid but a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) utilizing Geely's Thor system. The system is based on a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 99 hp and 125 Nm of torque, while the true "heart" is an electric motor with an impressive 218 hp and 262 Nm. This brings the total system power to an impressive 262 hp, meaning this luxury SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8 seconds.
Of course, these performance figures are supported by a relatively large 18.4 kWh battery using lithium-iron-phosphate technology. Alongside excellent performance, it also provides around 83 km of pure electric range.
The total hybrid range of the Starray, with a 51-liter gasoline tank, reaches an impressive 943 km (WLTP), meaning you can drive, for example, from Sarajevo to Munich without stopping for fuel or charging. The declared average fuel consumption is equally impressive at an unbelievable 2.4 l/100 km.
Geely also boasts advanced battery charging technology, as the Starray EM-i supports fast DC charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 30% to 80% in less than 20 minutes. Additionally, a V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) option is available, enabling the car to serve as a large external battery to power your devices (e.g., a refrigerator or grill while camping).
The interior of the Geely Starray EM-i follows the futuristic exterior style but with a clear focus on digital minimalism and Scandinavian cleanliness, thanks to Volvo's influence. The cabin is dominated by a large, vertically positioned 15.4-inch HD touchscreen running the intuitive Flyme Auto system, while the driver has a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and an optional 13.8-inch W-HUD (Head-Up Display).
Geely aims to stand out from the average SUV on the market with details that emphasize a premium feel. Notably, the "marshmallow" seats are specially designed with eight layers of padding for maximum comfort on long journeys, along with heating, ventilation, and memory options.
The Flyme Sound System with 16 speakers (1,000W power), including specific speakers in the headrests, provides an isolated audio experience for the driver.
For an even better feel, "Geeluxe" eco-friendly materials and soft upholstery are used, while ambient lighting synchronizes with music and driving modes. Practical technologies include 50W wireless charging and a 360ยฐ camera with 3D display.
The Starray EM-i stands out for offering exceptionally luxurious space despite all the technology and battery. Thanks to a wheelbase of nearly 2.8 meters, it provides unexpectedly ample legroom, while the 528-liter trunk ensures practicality is not compromised.
With the new Starray EM-i, Geely directly targets key players in the hybrid market in Bosnia and Herzegovina, such as the Toyota RAV4 PHEV, Hyundai Tucson PHEV, and Kia Sportage PHEV, as well as more affordable models like the MG HS PHEV, which is its direct competitor in terms of price-to-equipment ratio.
For the launch in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Geely is offering two options: the PRO equipment package, which includes practically everything needed as standard, and the more advanced MAXX equipment package. Additionally, a discount of 14,000 KM is offered at the start of sales, reducing the price of the model with the PRO package from 71,999 KM to a very attractive 57,999 KM (including registration).
On this occasion, Dino Subaลกiฤ, Geely PR Coordinator for the Southeast Europe region, confirmed that new models from Geely will continue to arrive. In the second half of this year, an even more advanced version of the Starray EM-i will be introduced, offering a larger battery and even more range. Subaลกiฤ also highlighted and announced a true hit from Geely, set to arrive in Bosnia and Herzegovina by the end of the year: the compact electric model EX2, which will bring top-tier 11-in-1 electric system technology at an attractive price.
