As he said, at today's meeting, representatives of carriers were not present for internal reasons. "We have a very simple conclusion—to get a meeting with the competent bodies of the Croatian Government regarding the stay of our carriers' drivers, border crossing, and entry into the Schengen zone. We will not give up until we get that meeting. We expect that the Chair of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto, will soon provide us with some kind of new information regarding the meetings she had with Plenković," he said. As he mentioned, when the EU Entry/Exit System (EES) is activated, a large number of carriers will have their days reset. "These are the confirmed pieces of information we have received. So, they can now breathe a sigh of relief. This will last for several months. All their days have been reset to zero. I believe the European Commission did this for two reasons—one is that we persistently requested it, and the other is that they are following the seasonal days when there is a lot of travel," he added. However, this does not mean a permanent solution to the carriers' problem, but rather a slight postponement of a long-standing issue. Otherwise, carriers from BiH are limited to a 90-day stay in the Schengen area, after which they face entry bans, even though they possess all the necessary permits and licenses to work, even though they do not reside in the EU but are only in transit. Let us remind you that starting tomorrow, the full implementation of the EES system will be in effect at all border crossings with the European Union. Starting tomorrow, the stamping of travel documents for third-country nationals will cease, and all data on entries and exits will be recorded electronically in the EES system. Travelers will have their faces photographed, fingerprints taken, and personal data from their travel documents recorded. The system automatically records the date and place of entry and exit, the duration of the permitted stay, and any entry refusals. The duration of the permitted stay is precisely calculated through an integrated automated calculator.
