The festival is organized by the publishing house Buybook, with this year's visual identity created by Fabrika. In a time marked by revisionism, distorted memories of the past, and the growing valorization of lies at the expense of truth, Bookstan explores the role of literature as a space for meaning, hope, and critical reflection. Bringing together diverse voices and perspectives, the festival continues its mission of fostering dialogue beyond fixed values and binary divisions, offering literature as a way to confront trauma, question reality, and imagine more humane futures. "In Bosnian-Herzegovinian society, and over the past decade in the wider region, hope is a crucial tool for survival, a principle that does not allow surrender. To temper the distrust toward the environment caused by trauma, it is necessary to verbalize that trauma, and in this, you can be helped by scientific, political, and religious dogmas and doctrinesโor by art and literature," emphasizes Lamija Miliลกiฤ, the festival's executive director. Over four festival days, Sarajevo will host numerous local, regional, and international authors who, through panels, book promotions, and discussions, will attempt to interpret the "deaf age" in which we live. For the eleventh consecutive year, Bookstan remains committed to its mission of exploring identity, collective and personal memory, and the power of the written word. Visit Sarajevo's "Land of Books" and be part of the dialogue that seeks truth where it is hardest to findโin the silence of a deaf age.
