With over 27 million followers on X and an incredible 42.8 million on Instagram, his legendary phrase "Here we go!" has become the hallmark of every transfer window.
In an open conversation, Romano revealed how difficult it is to balance his unique job with romantic relationships. Although, as he says, his past girlfriends were aware of the challenges brought by his profession, one bizarre incident remains particularly etched in his memory—the night when an exclusive news story interrupted an "intimate moment."
Romano recalled the transfer of Spanish defender Sergio Reguilón: "I will remember Reguilón's move to Tottenham for the rest of my life. It was around 1 a.m. Everyone was convinced he was going to Manchester United, and then the rumors started—'United,' 'Tottenham,' 'United.' At 1:40 a.m., my phone rang to get official confirmation. I had to tell her: 'Wait a moment, unfortunately, this call is important.' I had to interrupt that moment... but at least the news was accurate," the Italian recounted with a laugh.
"There are numerous problems and a very tough schedule. But, more than the schedule itself, the issue is the constant use of the phone. Imagine, you're sitting at dinner, and urgent news comes in. Still, it's my choice," Romano explains.
When directly asked by Diletta Leotta if he would trade his massive follower base for a "stable relationship," the transfer guru surprised many with his answer: "Yes."
He also explained his decision: "Because you can gain 10 million followers in the next year or so. But finding the right girl is not easy at all."
Romano now knows exactly what he wants in his private life. "I'm looking for a stable, long-term relationship. Absolutely. I've had my fun, that's enough for me," concluded the most famous sports journalist of today.
