In a public statement, the police noted that officers responded to a "suspicious possible shooting incident" around 5:56 a.m. local time on April 12. According to the initial police report, also published by The San Francisco Standard, two individuals in a Honda vehicle stopped in front of Altman's estate, which spans from Chestnut Street to Lombard Street. The police report further states that one person fired a shot toward Altman's estate on Lombard Street. Security personnel at the property reported hearing gunfire, and the incident was also captured on surveillance footage.
This marks the second case of violence targeting Altman and his residence within a few days. On Friday, a 20-year-old man allegedly threw a Molotov cocktail at Altman's house, causing a fire at one of the property's exterior gates. The San Francisco Standard reported that there were no injuries in either incident.
Daniel Moreno-Gama, a 20-year-old suspect from Texas, was charged on April 13 with murder and attempted arson. According to The New York Times, he wrote a document "discussing the alleged risk that artificial intelligence poses to humanity." The document also reportedly contained the names and addresses of other executives, investors, and board members of AI companies.
