The statement from the Delegation of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina notes that the violent attack on the players of FK Iskra in Stolac, committed on the night between April 12 and 13, is a serious incident that requires a swift and effective response from institutions. They call on the competent authorities to fully investigate this case, determine all the circumstances of the attack, and prosecute the perpetrators.

"We also note with concern the frequency of violent acts that appear to be motivated by hatred and intolerance in the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton. We urge the authorities to treat all incidents that deepen interethnic divisions with the utmost seriousness, in order to strengthen stability, trust, and social cohesion among different communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina," the statement said.

"Political actors, societal leaders, and public figures have a particularly important responsibility to promote an environment conducive to reconciliation and to refrain from inflammatory rhetoric and actions. This is especially important in an election year. Social cohesion and trust are essential for the stability and security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and are also key priorities on its European path," they concluded.
