Ciena employs over 9,000 people worldwide and operates in more than 35 countries, developing advanced solutions for digital communication networks and infrastructure. The delegation was led by the company's director, Thomas Schmitz, and the meeting was also attended by Nada Begeneลกiฤ‡, director of Igmako Smart Solutions. During the meeting, possibilities for investment and enhanced cooperation in the field of modern telecommunications and digital infrastructure were discussed. Special focus was placed on the development of advanced network solutions, including optical communication systems and digital transformation, as key factors for strengthening the competitiveness of Bosnia and Herzegovina's economy. Opportunities for capacity development in artificial intelligence, establishing data centers, and further strengthening network systems were also considered. On this occasion, FIPA representatives presented the investment advantages of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing its strategic geographical location, qualified and competitive workforce, as well as the benefits offered to foreign investors. The interlocutors agreed that there is significant room for cooperation, particularly in the context of modernizing the telecommunications network and strengthening digital capacities in the country. Readiness was expressed to continue communication and exchange concrete proposals that could result in the realization of investment projects in the coming period. It was highlighted that Bosnia and Herzegovina possesses significant potential for investment and development in the mentioned sectors, especially in the context of its regional positioning as a digital infrastructure hub. The need for a swift and coordinated institutional response at all levels of government was also emphasized to seize the opportunities brought by digital infrastructure development and further accelerate the progress of the IT sector. This visit represents another step toward strengthening international business cooperation and confirms the interest of renowned global companies in investing in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly in sectors with long-term development and innovation potential.
