Čavalić's question pertains to the current state of highway construction in this entity, and the response highlights several sections that the FBiH Highways believe could be opened during 2026.
These sections include: the Putnikovo Brdo 2 – Medakovo Tunnel, from the Usora interchange to the end of the section at Medakovo, with a length of 7.2 km; Medakovo – Ozimica, the entire section from the Medakovo interchange to the Ozimica interchange, with a length of 21.6 km; the remaining part of the AC Nemila – Vranduk section, with a length of 2 km, from Nemila to the end of this section; Vranduk – Ponirak, with a length of 4.8 km; Ponirak – Vraca (Zenica tunnel), with a length of 3.4 km; the remainder of the AC Zenica Tunnel – Donja Gračanica section, the so-called Northern section, from the Zenica tunnel to the Zenica north interchange, with a length of 0.65 km.
Regarding the specific timeframe, the sections Medakovo – Ozimica, Nemila – Vranduk, Vranduk – Ponirak, and Zenica Tunnel – Donja Gračanica will be opened by the end of the current construction season. The Putnikovo Brdo 2 - Medakovo section is expected to be opened after a technical inspection, while the Ponirak – Vraca (Zenica tunnel) section will be opened when the sections on the Zenica north interchange – Nemila stretch are opened.
As stated in the response, the opening of an additional 40 km of highway on Corridor 5C is expected by the end of the year.
"The opening is conditional upon the necessary financial monitoring of the construction. This is particularly emphasized given the instability in the world in recent years (current war events are an example) and the general increase in costs, which directly impacts the increase in unit prices of works, resulting from rising prices of materials, labor, fuel, equipment, and other resources involved in construction costs, which, through the contractual mechanism of so-called 'sliding scales,' are accounted for at construction sites," states the response from FBiH Highways.
