These two models are the D9 DM-i minivan and the Z9GT Shooting Brake. The D9 is a plug-in hybrid, while the Z9GT is offered in both fully electric and plug-in hybrid versions. The launch of both models coincides with BYD's planned international rollout of its new Flash Charging system. Over the next 12 months, the company plans to establish 3,000 charging stations in Europe and an additional 3,000 in markets outside China.
Denza has been selling the Z9GT Shooting Brake in China for some time, and it is one of the most interesting family cars in the country. Based on the company's e3 platform, the fully electric model uses a large 122.49 kWh battery, a front motor with 313 hp (230 kW) and 410 Nm of torque, as well as two rear-axle motors each producing 422 hp (310 kW) and 400 Nm of torque, resulting in a combined output of 1,156 hp (850 kW) and 1,210 Nm of torque.
Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in just 2.7 seconds, with a top speed of 269 km/h, which is more than sufficient for high-speed driving on the German autobahn. The electric car has a stated WLTP range of 599 km, and thanks to BYD's 1,500 kW fast-charging system, the battery can be charged from 10% to 70% in five minutes, or from 10% to 97% in nine minutes.
The plug-in hybrid version uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that delivers 173 hp (127 kW) and 320 Nm of torque, combined with a front motor producing 272 hp (200 kW) and two rear motors each producing 252 hp (185 kW) and 360 Nm of torque, resulting in a combined output of 775 hp (570 kW) and 1,035 Nm of torque. This model also features a 63.82 kWh battery and can travel 203 km on pure electric power, or 805 km when combined with the internal combustion engine. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 259 km/h.
Both versions come standard with carbon-ceramic brakes and include rear-wheel steering. They also feature BYD's advanced DiSUS-A dual-chamber air suspension system and can tow up to 2,000 kg. A rear-wheel-drive version of the Z9GT electric model will be introduced later this year, boasting an even greater range.
The D9 DM-i minivan is equipped with an all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid powertrain, offering an electric-only range of 209 km and a combined driving range of 950 km. It also supports BYD's Flash Charging technology.
Market-specific pricing details for the new Denza models have not yet been announced but are expected soon.
