John Ridley Trice, 93, of Lebanon, Tennessee, and his wife, 94-year-old Alice Moss Trice, passed away on April 2.
"You could never mention one of their names without thinking of the other," their daughter Angela Trice told WSMV in an interview published Tuesday. "Truly, one of them wouldn't have wanted to live without the other, and they didn't have to."
John spent his entire life in Lebanon, but Angela said her mother was from nearby Mount Juliet.
It was around 1 p.m. on April 2 when John died, and Alice passed away nine hours later at their home in Lebanon.
John was born on the family farm, according to his obituary. After graduating high school in 1950, he earned an American Farmer degree and continued the farming tradition with his father, Robert Henry. He later spent nearly 20 years working for Bland Motors selling tractors and equipment.
Alice loved gardening, and at the Wilson County Fair Flower Show, the "Alice Trice Overall Excellence Award" was even added as a top prize.
John and Alice were married on November 11, 1955, and then built a home together and raised their two children.
"Travel was a special joy in Alice's life, which she shared side by side with her husband, Johnnie," Alice's obituary states. "Together they created countless memories, enjoying the journey as much as the destinations. They visited all 50 states and many countries over the years. These experiences were a reflection of their deep companionship and the life they built together."
In her interview with WSMV, Angela shared what she called the key to her parents' long-lasting relationship.
"You know, Dad would always say to put God first, and then be there for each other," she said of her father's simple rule.
Their funeral will be held on Friday, April 10.
