The first quarter brought efficient basketball, with the teams constantly alternating in the lead. Young carried Bosnia's offense, while on the other side, a motivated Russell responded, so the home team led by a minimal 22:20.
A similar situation was seen in the second quarter. It was a basket-for-basket game, defenses were somewhat tighter, and Cluj managed to go into halftime with a three-point lead (41:38).
It seemed the Sarajevo team was losing the thread of the game midway through the third quarter. The home basketball players scored quickly and, through Creek, Taylor, and Russell with a series of easy points, escaped to an 11-point lead (62:51).
In the very finish of the third period, Shepherd and Zubac connected several crucial points and brought Bosnia back to just minus three before entering the decisive ten minutes.
And then came the show from Đoko Šalić. Bosnia's center took responsibility at the start of the fourth quarter and hit as many as three three-pointers, completely shocking the home crowd. With his points, Bosnia created a turnaround and took the lead at 75:72 in the 33rd minute.
An uncertain finale followed, and the pivotal moment was Plummer's three-pointer two minutes before the end when Bosnia led 89:86 and maintained the advantage until the end for a great triumph.
The most efficient in Bosnia's ranks were Kovačević with 13, and Plummer, Halilović, Young, and Šalić—all with 12 points each, while in Cluj, Russell stood out with 23, Creek with 16, and Molinar with 14 points.
Bosnia will play their next match on Saturday against Igokea at Zetra, starting at 6 p.m.
