"Do you remember the Western outrage over the conflict near the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in Ukraine? Israel and the U.S. have already bombed our power plant in Bushehr four times," he stated via social media.

He also noted that attacks on the petrochemical industry are not targeting the right objectives either.

"Radioactive fallout will destroy life in the capitals of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, not in Tehran," he emphasized.

The Iranian Atomic Energy Organization reported that one of the plant's physical protection employees was killed in the attack and accused the U.S. and Israel of responsibility.

The statement mentioned that preliminary investigations suggest the incident did not cause damage to the main parts of the plant, and its operations were unaffected. However, it warned that due to significant amounts of radioactive material, any serious damage could lead to a major nuclear accident.

Bushehr is Iran's only operational nuclear power plant, built with Russian assistance. Moscow has evacuated many of its personnel, and the director of Russia's state nuclear corporation Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, said two days ago that the planned final phase of evacuating about 200 people is scheduled for next week.

Iran's nuclear program has long been a subject of dispute and has led to extensive international sanctions. The U.S. and Israel's war against Iran began on February 28, two days after the third round of indirect U.S.-Iran nuclear talks in Geneva.
