Fidan said the world wants free and unimpeded navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. "Turkey supports the peaceful reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, while international armed intervention would face serious challenges," stated the Turkish Foreign Minister. Fidan said Israel's actions in Lebanon are reminiscent of Gaza, accusing it of destroying residential buildings and infrastructure in a campaign of depopulation. "Middle Eastern countries should commit to mutual respect for territorial integrity, sovereignty, and security within a regional security pact," said the Turkish minister, adding: "We see that Israel might try to label Turkey as a new adversary after Iran because it cannot survive without an enemy." Fidan said cooperation between Greece, the Greek Cypriot administration, and Israel does not bring more confidence, but rather more distrust.
