Speaking on the podcast "Dinner's on Me with Jesse Tyler Ferguson," Graham described how the turning point in her life was her role in the film "License to Drive," which, she says, opened the doors to independence and professional success in Hollywood.

The actress also shared in the conversation that during her school years, she wasn't particularly popular and that her peers didn't see her as someone who would one day pursue acting or look like a movie star.

"I was a nerd, a smart girl, and no one considered me a beauty," Graham said, recalling that period of her life.

The situation changed when she landed the role of an attractive cheerleader in "License to Drive," although, as she herself admits, she didn't have a distinct style or confidence in her appearance at the time.

"People were surprised and asked, 'Her?'" she recounted, emphasizing that the film was released around the time she finished high school.

Graham highlights that this very role of Mercedes Lane, which she got at age 17, was a pivotal point in her life. She describes that moment as a huge turnaround that brought her financial independence and the ability to live on her own.

"That was something huge for me. I started earning money and could live independently," the actress stated.

Beyond her acting career, Graham has also tried her hand at writing and directing; her latest film, "They Will Kill You," premiered at the end of March this year.

Speaking about her private life and self-care, the 56-year-old actress revealed that she has never had facial cosmetic surgery but does use certain cosmetic and non-invasive treatments like Botox, microneedling, and laser procedures.

"Some laser treatments are really painful," she said, adding that such procedures can take up to an hour and a half. She emphasized that she avoids cosmetic surgery because she wants to maintain a natural look.

"I don't want to look strange after facial surgery. Some people succeed with it, but I just don't want that," she explained, adding that she doesn't rule out changing her mind in the future.

Finally, she revealed that she maintains a healthy lifestyle, sleeping between 10 and 11 hours a day, practicing yoga, and watching her diet, which helps her stay in shape and manage stress.
