Ahmedhodžić's profile was frequently updated in hopes of him speaking out after Bosnia and Herzegovina's World Cup qualification. Fans awaited his reaction, and it arrived today.
Perhaps this is the first time he has publicly addressed the situation since his unfortunate departure from the national team, which placed him at the center of a major controversy.
"I know I'm late, but better late than never. Honestly, I regret not being a part of it; this country means a great deal to me, and such a moment cannot be overlooked. Things got complicated, and unfortunately, what happened, happened," says Ahmedhodžić, continuing:
"These guys showed heart and soul for Bosnia and Herzegovina, and every fan can be proud. All credit to you. I will support them as always, that's for sure. I wish them all the best at the World Cup and hope they continue to make history for our country," concludes the Feyenoord defender.
At the time he left the national team gathering, Ahmedhodžić was the most expensive footballer from our country on Transfermarkt. He had a falling out with members of the coaching staff and decided to no longer play for the national team.
Although the question of his return to the national team has been raised publicly several times, the team director, Emir Spahić, has repeatedly stated that nothing will come of it.
