Prime Minister Edi Rama has once again responded on the "Flasim" podcast regarding the apartment building that caught fire in Tirana, affecting dozens of families. He announced that until their apartments are repaired, they can benefit from a rental bonus and support from the Municipality of Tirana to cover expenses. "This week there was a moment that, truthfully, was initially terrifying because the flames engulfing a building in Tirana seemed to seriously threaten the lives of residents, but fortunately, thanks to the truly professional and, above all, heroic efforts of the firefighters, everything passed without any lives lost or serious injuries. Meanwhile, what remained after the fire was the charred remains of that building, for which we immediately took action, and the first and most important thing, in my opinion, is that the building will be completely rebuilt from scratch, 100% by its own constructor, and on the other hand, the commitment to help the residents until the time—and I believe it won’t take long because the scaffolding is already there—but until those residents return home, they can have a rental bonus and, of course, support from the municipality to ease the burden caused by the unforeseen damages that occurred in their apartments. Now, in such cases, all sorts of chatterers and self-proclaimed public experts immediately appear, like mushrooms after rain, but without the necessary licenses and knowledge to take on such a role. Still, due to emotions and the desire for protagonism, everyone has something to say. The truth is that this was an unfortunate incident caused by a spark, by an ignition, if you will, which in itself has no connection to the construction, but on the other hand, it is a reason to properly examine and understand what relates to construction quality and materials, even though, from the initial verification, the building had all certified materials imported, so I don’t want to dwell on this point further. The most important thing is that none of those residents who experienced that dramatic moment, which fortunately—and again, thanks primarily to the firefighters, but also to the law enforcement present—did not turn into a tragic moment, will be left alone or to their own fate in facing the need to return and live normally in a fully rebuilt home of their own, as they deserve," said Rama.
