The session for the election of the president in the Assembly of Kosovo has begun, while the opposition has boycotted it. Only deputies from Vetëvendosje are present in the hall, conducting proceedings normally. Albulena Haxhiu stated that this absence of the opposition directly impacts the country, preventing the voting process, which is the minimum requirement of democracy.

"The absence of the opposition produces direct consequences. Deputies are obligated to be present and to vote. Two-thirds must be present and vote, whether in favor or against. I addressed the Constitutional Court immediately during the session on March 5. This matter has been decided and there is no room for change. We cannot claim respect for the Constitution while ignoring the duties it imposes on us. A vote, whether in favor, against, or abstention, is an act of responsibility. This is the minimum that a democracy requires," said Acting President of Kosovo Albulena Haxhiu.

According to the Constitutional Court's decision, there is a deadline until tomorrow to elect the new president; otherwise, the country will head to new elections.
