Two months after the Special Court of Appeal's decision to release former Minister of Environment Lefter Koka because his pre-trial detention deadlines had expired, SPAK has filed an appeal with the Supreme Court. This stance by SPAK indicates that the Special Prosecution Office disagrees with the interpretation of the February 2026 decision regarding Lefter Koka.
Through a public announcement dated April 17, it is made known that notification is necessary because the appeal notice could not be delivered via postal service, as the delivery receipt was returned with the note "moved away."
The former minister was arrested in 2021 in connection with the investigative file on "Incinerators," accused of the criminal offenses of "abuse of office," "money laundering," and "corruption." He was convicted by rulings that have not yet become final, regarding the incinerator cases in Fier, Elbasan, and Tirana. / Top Channel
