About a year away from local elections, the Central Election Commission (CEC) is springing into action and beginning preparations for the electoral process. Through a letter sent to the Municipalities, the CEC requests them to determine the voting centers, reminding that according to the Electoral Code, they must be located in public premises, mainly schools, community centers, or state institutions. The environment must be accessible, guarantee political neutrality, tranquility, and security during the voting process.
"The Central Election Commission, within the framework of preparations for administering the electoral process and in support of the obligations defined in the Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania, reminds you of the importance of guaranteeing legal standards for the premises where Voting Centers (VC) are located.
According to the Electoral Code, Voting Centers must be located in public premises, mainly schools, community centers, or state institutions. The environment must be accessible, guarantee political neutrality, tranquility, and security during the voting process. VC premises must provide sufficient space for secret rooms, placement of boxes, technological equipment, accessible environments for persons with disabilities, appropriate lighting, and infrastructural conditions that ensure security and secrecy of the vote."
