The Deputy Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Ms. Klodiana Spahiu, participated in the Third Bucha Summit in Bucha, Ukraine. At this summit, attended by high-level diplomats from the European Union and other European countries, Ms. Spahiu emphasized that Albania, though a small country, makes a significant contribution to international peace and security. Conveying the greetings of the Speaker of the Parliament, Mr. Niko Peleshi, for the aforementioned Summit, in her speech she underlined that Albania stands by Ukraine and the Ukrainian people against the unjust and unprovoked aggression by Russia. This war has brought severe human and material consequences, causing loss of life, destruction of cities, and massive displacement of the population. Since the beginning of the conflict, Albania has been and remains in full solidarity with Ukraine. Defending peace, justice, and the right of a people to live free is a stance that reflects our values as a society and as dedicated allies in NATO and the European Union. The Albanian Parliament, through the resolution adopted on March 8, 2022, supported the measures taken in coordination with our strategic allies, the United States and the European Union, including economic sanctions, diplomatic actions, and humanitarian and military aid for Ukraine. As a co-penholder with the United States of America in the UN Security Council during 2022โ2023, Albania has maintained a clear stance against aggression and in support of Ukraine's just war. Albania has been active in international initiatives for Ukraine, participating in important conferences and summits in Berlin, Switzerland, Odesa, as well as organizing in Tirana the Southeast European Countries Summit for Ukraine in February 2024. Albania's commitment will continue in the future, through long-term cooperation based on the 10-year strategic agreement signed on January 21, 2025, in Davos, focusing on the security, defense, and reconstruction of Ukraine, including the Kharkiv region. On the fourth anniversary of the Bucha massacre, a ceremony was also held for the victims of the tragedy at St. Andrew's Church (Bucha). Additionally, a meeting of the heads of delegation took place, with all representatives present at the Summit expressing their support for Ukraine. The Bucha Summit takes place in a symbolic context, as at the end of March 2022, after Ukrainian forces regained control of the city, serious crimes against civilians were discovered, including mass graves near St. Andrew's Church, a stark reminder of the importance of justice and accountability.
