A new study published in the journal "Nutrition" suggests that consuming cottage cheese before sleep may have positive effects on metabolism, muscle recovery, and the body weight control process during the night.

For a long time, it has been believed that eating late in the evening contributes to weight gain, as the body stores calories as fat. However, according to nutritionist Michael Ormsbee, this does not apply to protein-rich foods, such as fresh cottage cheese.

He explains that consuming a small amount of cottage cheese, about 30 minutes before sleep, can help the body during the recovery process and provide a healthier alternative compared to typical evening snacks.

According to him, the protein found in cottage cheese, casein, digests slowly, ensuring a continuous supply of amino acids throughout the night. These amino acids are used by the body for muscle building, tissue repair, and supporting the immune system.

Professor Ormsbee from Florida State University emphasizes that until now, there has been insufficient evidence to compare the effects of whole foods with protein supplements, but this study offers a new perspective on the role of natural evening nutrition.

According to the researchers, including light proteins before sleep can help maintain muscle mass and optimize metabolic processes during rest, without the need for processed supplements.
