A royal expert has uncovered new details about the long and enduring relationship between the late Queen Elizabeth II and her husband, Prince Philip, describing them as an "inseparable duo" that shaped the modern British monarchy.

According to expert Gyles Brandreth, who spoke on the podcast "A Right Royal Podcast," their marriage of over seven decades was a rare example of stability and partnership in royal history.

"It is extraordinary to live that long with the same person and to continue to have such a good relationship. They were an incredible 'double act,'" he said.

Brandreth emphasized that the royal couple managed to adapt to the changes of the times, including transformations within the royal family, such as Prince Charles's divorce from Princess Diana and his later marriage to Camilla.

According to him, even though the royal family faced scandals and major changes, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip accepted these developments and managed to maintain family unity.

"Camilla was accepted by the family and became part of it. These changes were integrated naturally," he noted.

After Prince Philip's death in 2021 at the age of 99, the queen appeared alone at his farewell ceremony due to pandemic restrictions, a moment considered symbolic of their long and strong bond.

Meanwhile, the royal family is preparing to honor the memory of Queen Elizabeth II on the 100th anniversary of her birth, on April 21, with a series of official activities across the United Kingdom. According to experts, the legacy of the Elizabethโ€“Philip couple remains one of the strongest foundations of the modern British monarchy.
