In fulfillment of one of the main priorities, that of ensuring the safety and health of students in schools, by preventing and combating negative phenomena with a focus on narcotic substances, based on operational intelligence provided by the Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Operational Support Investigation Section of the Durrës Local Police Directorate, the coded police operation "Bitter Taste" was successfully concluded.
During the operation, a synthetic drug processing base was uncovered, and the group producing and distributing synthetic drugs near secondary schools was dismantled.
Following the operation, two brothers were arrested in flagrante delicto, specifically citizens Ledio and Rubin Lemeti, aged 20 and 25, both born in Kavajë and residing in Tirana.
Additionally, a search warrant was issued for citizen Xh. L, aged 20, a resident of Tirana, with intensive efforts ongoing for his capture.
These citizens, in collaboration with each other, had prepared the conditions for processing narcotic substances, managing to produce synthetic narcotics in gelatin form ("candies"). Each citizen was responsible for creating the conditions for engaging in illegal activities, specifically the production, transportation, and sale of narcotic substances, primarily targeting adolescents.
During a search conducted on citizen Ledio Lemeti near the school block, police services found and seized as material evidence 50 packages of processed narcotic substances in candy form, weighing 650 grams.
From a search conducted at the residence of these citizens in Tirana, the following items were found and seized as material evidence: gelatin in candy form; cannabis narcotic substance; 550 grams of synthetic material ready for the production of synthetic narcotic candies; an electronic scale; plastic molds such as those used for shaping candies; and various components used for producing synthetic narcotic candies.
The Narcotics Investigation Section, in cooperation with the Prosecutor's Office, continues to work on identifying and documenting other citizens involved in this criminal activity.
The investigative procedural materials will be referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the Durrës First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction for the criminal offense of "Production and sale of narcotics," in collaboration.
