According to the report, Trump emphasized that the only way to bring Iran back to the negotiation table is to increase pressure on Tehran, signaling a tough approach despite aiming for a swift resolution. The conflict escalated after an operation launched on February 28 by the U.S. and Israel against Iran, while a two-day ceasefire was announced between the parties on April 7. In an effort to find a diplomatic solution, representatives from Iran and the U.S. held several rounds of talks on April 11 in Islamabad. The Iranian delegation was led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, while the American side was represented by Vice President JD Vance. However, after the meetings concluded, both parties confirmed that no agreement on a long-term solution had been reached due to deep disagreements. It remains unclear whether a new round of negotiations will take place, but the U.S. administration has left open the possibility that talks may resume in Islamabad in the coming days.
