New details have emerged regarding the assassination that left two victims, Kreshnik and Gentiana Mujeci, today in Balldre, Lezhë. Following suspicions that the incident might be linked to an old feud, lawyer Gjergj Neli, who is also a cousin of the victims, has reacted on social media. In a public statement, Neli calls on law enforcement agencies to clarify the circumstances of the incident as quickly and thoroughly as possible, while dismissing claims that the assassination was the result of revenge or blood feud. According to him, these claims are false and unfounded, emphasizing that the Mujeci family has no such conflict. He also clarifies that mentioning an incident from 2017 in Mal i Jushit is irrelevant, as the case was handled and closed by the justice authorities, where Mujeci was found not guilty by the Prosecutor's Office and the relevant courts.
Regarding the serious and macabre assassination of Kreshnik Mujeci and his family, we received the sad news with emotion and regret concerning the grave incident of an assassination that occurred today in the village of Balldren, Balldren Administrative Unit, Lezhë Municipality, where citizens Kreshnik Mujeci and Gentjana Mujeci tragically lost their lives. Therefore, for this macabre assassination, we express deep sorrow and solidarity with the victims' families in this difficult moment. We strongly condemn this serious criminal act and demand from law enforcement agencies a full and swift clarification of the incident, as well as bringing the perpetrators to justice. At the same time, we publicly condemn statements by some media outlets that have insinuated this incident is primarily linked to motives of revenge, since the bloodline and clan of the Mujeci family owe nothing. Versions of this nature may be one of the suspected leads for law enforcement agencies, but we advise not to overlook other suspicious leads regarding the criminal incident that occurred. Kreshnik Mujeci was a regular family man, loved and respected by relatives and the entire community around Lezhë and Shkodër, who engaged in livestock farming together with his deceased wife to sustain a normal life in service of his family. These claims are false and unfounded beyond any doubt regarding the 2017 incident in Mal i Jushit, which was handled and exhausted by the competent authorities, namely the Shkodër Prosecutor's Office, as well as the First Instance Court and the Shkodër Court of Appeal. At the conclusion of these processes, citizen Kreshnik Mujeci was not found guilty in relation to that incident. Consequently, any attempt to link today's incident to such claims is unacceptable, undermines the truth, and unjustly burdens the victims' family. We call on the media to show professional responsibility, verify information, and avoid spreading inaccurate news that could negatively impact public opinion and the dignity of families presumed to be involved in the conflict. For this, we demand justice and the clarification of the incident, full transparency regarding this macabre and serious event. May God strengthen the family members and all friends wherever they are.
