A thief in Britain has been sentenced to over two years in prison after stealing a handbag containing luxury items worth up to 2.5 million euros, including a precious Fabergรฉ egg adorned with emeralds and a rare watch. The incident occurred on November 7, 2024, at a venue in London's Soho area, where 29-year-old Enzo Conticello, also known as Hakin Boudjenoune, took Rosie Dawson's bag, which she had placed near her feet outside a pub. The valuable items were in the bag because Dawson had used them earlier during a work event. They have not yet been recovered by the authorities. At Southwark Crown Court, Conticello pleaded guilty to theft and fraud. Footage showed that he initially attempted to steal another bag inside the venue before taking Dawson's outside. According to the prosecution, he acted for "quick cash" and then handed the bag to someone else to secure drugs. He was identified after trying to use the victim's bank cards just minutes after the theft. His lawyer stated that he was unaware of the actual value of the items and had fallen into drug dependency after losing his job during the pandemic. Imposing a sentence of two years and three months in prison, the court emphasized that the theft had caused significant stress and consequences for the victim and her company. Meanwhile, the police continue their search for the stolen items.
