The story of Fatjon Zhupa is a painful tale of survival and sacrifice, which for three years has weighed heavily on his shoulders and those of his three young children. After the loss of his wife, this family's life was completely overturned.
The three children grew up without a mother's care, while every day they face severe shortages and extremely difficult living conditions. The dwelling they live in can no longer be called a home: the walls are damaged, the roof does not protect them, and fear has become part of their daily life.
As if that were not enough, Fatjon also bears the burden of caring for his two sick parents: his mother, affected by sclerosis, and his paralyzed father, who require constant assistance. Amid poverty and the inability to secure stable work, he struggles every day to keep his family alive, often caught between hope and despair. The heavy rains this past January worsened the situation even further. The mudslides that came down from the mountain severely damaged the home, turning it into a dangerous place to live.
Through Top Channel, Fatjon makes a heartfelt appeal for help to all Albanians. An appeal that does not ask for luxury, but merely for survival. Amid all this poverty, the wish of his young daughter is simple, yet heartbreaking for a parent: a safe home and a Barbie doll. A small dream that to many may seem ordinary, but for Fatjon remains unattainable.
This is a story that calls not only for attention, but also for compassion. A call for solidarity, to give this family a chance to live with dignity.
