Gina Schumacher, the daughter of Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher, has revealed that her father suffered a horse riding accident shortly before the fatal incident in 2013, but without serious injuries.

In an interview with Bild, the 29-year-old confessed that her father fell from an Arabian horse in Dubai but was not injured, just before the dramatic accident at a ski resort in France that left the seven-time world champion in a coma.

Gina emphasized the importance that horses have always had in her life and how they helped her cope with the aftermath of her father's accident. "Since then, I couldn't live without horses. They helped me get through everything," she said, highlighting that her parents always supported her path as a professional equestrian.

Michael Schumacher remained in a coma for nearly six months after the ski accident in Meribel, where he suffered traumatic brain injuries and required two surgeries. According to the latest information, his condition has improved, allowing him to move to his property in Mallorca and his home in Gland, under the close care of his wife, Corinna, and a team of 24-hour therapists and nurses.

Gina also became a mother for the first time last April, welcoming her first child with her husband Ian Bethke, whom she married in September 2024 in a luxurious ceremony in Mallorca.

The upcoming documentary titled "Horsepower, The World of Gina Schumacher" is expected to provide more details about her life, her relationship with horses, and how she has dealt with the aftermath of her father's accident.

This candid revelation by Gina sheds light on the life of the legendary champion after the accident that shook the world of sports and shows the close family bond and love for horses that have supported her through the most difficult moments.
