The University of Tirana has expressed its support for Albanian students in North Macedonia, who are protesting and demanding that the jurisprudence exam be conducted in the Albanian language. Through slogans such as "The Albanian language is not negotiable," the students have emphasized that their demand is directly linked to fundamental rights regarding the use of their mother tongue in education and professional processes. In its response, the University of Tirana described this demand as a legitimate aspiration for equality and dignity, stressing that the disregard for linguistic rights could create serious obstacles to the academic and professional development of students, as well as undermine trust in institutions. The institution called on the relevant authorities to find a fair and inclusive solution, in accordance with democratic standards and the principles of equality. At the same time, the University emphasized that respecting linguistic diversity is a fundamental value for social cohesion and the European Union integration process.
