"We sent our daughter as a bride, they brought her back in a coffin"โ€ฆ

These are the harrowing words of a mother who lost her daughter under tragic circumstances, spoken to Top Channel correspondent Brixhilda Deda. More than a month after the tragedy that shook public opinion, the pain in Xhuana Nikollaj's family remains unextinguished. The 25-year-old, who according to relatives took her own life after suffering abuse from her husband, is no longer alive, but the wounds she left behind are still open.

For the first time, her parents open the doors of their home and hearts to Top Channel, recounting the most difficult month of their livesโ€”a month filled with pain, unanswered questions, and memories that cannot fill the void left by their daughter.

"It has been very hard for us because it came suddenly, so much pain for us. Our daughter was doing very well in her dreams, happy. Until we got the news that she was in the hospital. We sent our daughter as a bride, educated... they brought our daughter back in a coffin. My appeal is that that boy should never have touched my daughter. God willing, his family will go and get him and bring him to justice, and he will suffer for what he did to our daughter. When he is arrested, we will feel a little relieved," her mother said.

Amid the pain of losing their daughter, the father speaks of the signs of violence that, according to him, were visible on Xhuana's body. He adds that her phone has not yet been opened by the police, a detail that, according to the family, could reveal the truth.

"My pain is immense. I appeal to the institutions to put their hand on their heart and deliver justice for the crime that criminal committed, and for him to be caught as soon as possible. My daughter owed nothing to anyone. Whoever sees him should report him and bring him to justice. Let the experts take and open my daughter's phone. The day we retrieved her body from the morgue, there were marks on her jaw, body, arm, everywhereโ€”he treated her as if she were a wild beast. I demand he be punished as severely as possible... Her jaw has marks; maybe he even forced the poison on her. We don't know," her father said.

Amid tears and a pain that, according to them, will never fade, the Nikollaj family has a direct appeal.

"We want that boy, Eraldo Fizi, to be caught, to serve his sentence, and to tell us why he beat our sister," said the sister of the deceased. / Top Channel
