Majid Khademi, the intelligence chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has been killed in recent strikes in Iran, becoming one of the highest-ranking Tehran officials to lose his life since the escalation of the conflict on February 28. According to the Israel Defense Forces, Khademi was among the most important commanders of the IRGC and had built extensive experience over the years in intelligence and security structures.
In the same strikes, Israel also announced the elimination of Yazdan Mir, known by the alias "Sardar Bagheri," who headed the secretive Unit 840 of the Quds Force. Both were among at least 25 reported casualties from the overnight airstrikes.
Meanwhile, the IRGC confirmed Khademi's death, describing him as a key figure in Iranian intelligence and accusing the "American-Israeli enemy" of a "criminal terrorist attack."
Khademi had taken over the leadership of the Revolutionary Guard's intelligence in 2025, following the death of his predecessor Mohammad Kazemi during the previous Iran-Israel clash. He had a long career in security services, including significant positions in counterintelligence and at the Ministry of Defense.
The IRGC's intelligence structure is considered one of the main pillars of security in Iran, playing a crucial role in internal control and countering foreign influence, often in collaboration with civilian intelligence services.
