A tragic event has shaken Italy, where a 47-year-old man, Giacomo Bongiorni, was brutally killed by a group of youths while he was with his partner and their 11-year-old son, who witnessed the entire scene.
His partner, Sara Tognocchi, distraught, recounted the moments of terror, saying: "We were supposed to get married, they killed him before my eyes."
She added: "We were in the square, they surrounded us and attacked us. The child tried to lift his father from the ground, it was horrible. We are devastated. Tell me it's just a bad dream."
According to testimonies, the 11-year-old boy went into shock and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The incident has sparked strong reactions in the local community in the city of Massa, where the victim was known as a calm and beloved person by everyone.
Italian authorities are investigating the event and seeking to identify and arrest the perpetrators of the attack.
