A woman from Jonesboro, Arkansas, is accused of theft after police say she was mistakenly paid $1,650 per hour for a 12-hour shift and refused to return the money. The Jonesboro Police Department reported that the 50-year-old woman was supposed to receive $16.50 per hour from Superior Senior Care. However, on May 10, 2025, she was accidentally overpaid, resulting in nearly $20,000 for just one day of work.

Investigators said that when asked about the money, the woman claimed she understood the funds she received were from a bank loan she had applied for. Superior Senior Care stated they gave her sufficient time to repay the money, but she said she had spent it on repairing her husbandโ€™s pickup truck before cutting off all communication with the company.

Jonesboro police said the woman also refused to speak in person with detectives and was arrested on a warrant in Putnam County, Tennessee. Police stated the woman claimed she attempted to offer the money before seeking an attorney. She was booked into the Craighead County jail on a charge of theft of property valued over $5,000 but less than $25,000 and was given a $15,000 bond. A court appearance is scheduled for May.
