A 32-year-old Albanian man has been sentenced to 2 years in prison in Basildon after being caught with over 100 doses of drugs prepared for sale. Shuaip Gjoshi was stopped by police in Rayleigh, where a search of his car uncovered 99 doses of cannabis and 4 doses of cocaine. According to authorities, the street value of the narcotics exceeded ยฃ3,200. Investigations by Essex Police revealed that the vehicle had moved through various areas of Essex for approximately 12 hours before the stop, raising suspicions of drug distribution, British media report. The 32-year-old claimed he worked at a pizzeria and had been delivering food all day, but police found cannabis in plant form, resin, THC vape, and cocaine in the car, all divided into small doses for sale. He also had ยฃ962 in cash seized. In court, it was revealed that Gjoshi had come to England on a visa to find work as an electrician, but due to financial difficulties and lack of support, he ended up involved in criminal activity. His defense lawyer stated that he had taken on debts to cover living expenses and felt compelled to engage in drug distribution to repay them, emphasizing that it was an isolated incident and that her client had admitted his mistake. The judge stressed that, given his status as an overstayer and the lack of a community supervision structure, a prison sentence was unavoidable. He also wished him a fresh start after serving his sentence.
