The militant group Hezbollah has denied involvement in the incident that killed a French peacekeeper and wounded three others in southern Lebanon. Earlier, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon stated that a preliminary assessment indicates the fire came from non-state actors, implying Hezbollah's involvement. The organization also announced it has launched an investigation to fully clarify the event. Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron expressed that current information suggests responsibility on the part of Hezbollah. On the other hand, Hezbollah itself reacted by stating it was "surprised" by the hasty accusations, emphasizing the need for coordination between the Lebanese army and UNIFIL, especially under the current sensitive conditions in the region.
