Police have initiated criminal proceedings against the young man who was injured in an explosion in Mamaj, Tepelenë. The proceedings were launched against Xhuliano Sala, who is accused of the criminal offense of "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive devices, and ammunition." The 29-year-old is suspected of possessing a quantity of fuse cord and combat ammunition, which were found in a warehouse near his home, where an amount of explosive material accidentally detonated, injuring him and his friend Lusien Shehu. The two injured individuals remain at the Trauma Hospital in Tirana under medical care, out of danger for their lives. Following the preliminary information provided on April 21, 2026, regarding the injury of two citizens from the explosion of an explosive substance near a residence in the village of Mamaj, Tepelenë, we inform you that, as part of the investigative actions, specialists from the Crime Investigation Unit of the Tepelenë Police Commissariat referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office, where proceedings were initiated in a free state against citizen Xh. S., 29 years old, residing in the village of Mamaj, for the criminal offense of "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive devices, and ammunition." This citizen is suspected of possessing a quantity of fuse cord and combat ammunition, which were found in the warehouse near his home in the village of Mamaj, where it is suspected that an amount of explosive material accidentally detonated, resulting in injuries to him and his friend, citizen L. Sh., residing in Memaliaj. Both injured individuals remain under medical care, out of danger for their lives.
