A 15-year-old girl lost her life overnight in a hospital in Rome, following a sudden illness during a dinner with friends from her basketball team. The prosecutor's office has opened a case for involuntary manslaughter, while investigators are examining the possibility of a food allergy. Other causes of the illness have not been ruled out. An autopsy, ordered immediately, will precisely determine the circumstances of the girl's death.

Sofia Di Vico, who was from the province of Caserta, was in Rome to participate in the "Mare di Roma Trophy in Pink" tournament with her team, Union Basket Maddaloni. The alarm about her condition was raised on Thursday evening, April 2, at a campsite in the southern part of the capital.

It is reported that the girl was allergic to milk proteins and experienced discomfort during the dinner. Despite using the medication she had with her, her condition worsened during transport to the hospital, where she died shortly after arrival.

The tournament, in which Sofia was scheduled to participate, has been canceled following this tragedy.
