Eight children aged 1 to 14 lost their lives in a serious firearm incident in the U.S. state of Louisiana. Local authorities have described the event as related to a "family conflict."

Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith stated, "This is an extremely severe scene, unlike anything most of us have ever seen."

According to police, the suspected perpetrator was involved in a pursuit with law enforcement after leaving the scene and stealing a vehicle. He was shot and neutralized by police during the confrontation.

The shootings occurred around 6:00 a.m. local time on Sunday morning, and it is suspected that the incident is linked to family conflicts that took place in several residences.

Authorities are still investigating the exact connections between the perpetrator, two injured women, and the eight children killed. According to police, some of the children are suspected to be descendants or children of the suspect, who is reported to have had an emotional relationship with one of the injured women.

Investigations into fully clarifying the incident are ongoing.
