At the meeting held this Friday, April 10, the Council of Ministers approved a new package of legislative initiatives that directly affect the economy and the fiscal system in the country.

During the communication with the media, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, made it known that one of the main draft laws is related to income tax. According to her, the proposed changes aim for a fairer fiscal approach, also taking into account Albanians living abroad, as well as foreign citizens who have chosen to live in Albania.

One of the key points of this draft law is the fact that individuals considered tax residents in Albania, but who earn income in other countries and pay taxes there, will not be taxed again in Albania. This measure aims to avoid double taxation and create a more favorable climate for investment and living.

The Minister also emphasized that this policy is linked to the strategy to attract retirees from abroad, who can contribute to what is known as the "silver economy." Meanwhile, the draft law also provides facilities for special categories, including tax exemption for blind persons, aiming for greater social support for this group.
