The new carbon tax implemented by the European Union is a very good opportunity for Albania to utilize renewable energy. The announcement comes from Minister Enea Karakaçi, who attended the Energy Ministerial in Montenegro regarding the measures that regional states are taking to align with the EU. The new carbon tax implies an additional levy on every unit of non-renewable electricity production, which poses a challenge for other Western Balkan countries. "Albania, being a champion of renewable energy in the region, should leverage this potential and increase investments in renewable energy. This EU policy finds Albania well-prepared and even in a more competitive process with all other countries," says Karakaçi. Additionally, this ministerial highlighted the support measures undertaken by the government for renewable energy, investments, and auction support schemes.
