The Transparency Board for fuels is expected to convene this afternoon, where the price of diesel is anticipated to reach 230 lek/liter. On the London exchange, Brent crude oil per barrel is trading at an average of $110/barrel, while on the Platts Mediterranean exchange, refined oil costs $1,420 per barrel. Currently, diesel is trading at 218 lek and is expected to exceed the 230 lek threshold, which automatically triggers a 20% reduction in the diesel excise tax, according to the government's decision. The excise tax today without VAT is 39.4 lek, and the effect of this reduction is expected to be only about 8 lek without VAT and 9.5 lek including VAT, failing to offset even the recent daily increase in oil prices on the exchange.
