Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke at the PS Assembly about the increase in the average wage and their indexing. He stated that the wages of doctors, teachers, police officers, military personnel, and administrative staff have been raised. "We started with an average of 300-400 million in foreign investments, we have gone over 1.5 billion; we started with around 2 million tourists. All Albanians who went abroad when they entered Rinas or Kakavija were counted as tourists, around 2 million would come out. We have reached 12 million with foreign passports in Albania. We took over the country with a Gross National Product under 10 billion. Today we are at 27 billion and by 2030 we will reach 35 billion. We took over with less than 3000 euros per capita, today we are at 11,300 if I'm not mistaken per capita. We took over with a laughable average wage. Laughable! Today we have an overall average wage of 870 euros because the average wage is continuously increasing due to growth in the private sector and must be tracked every three months, while in the public sector it has exceeded 1000 euros. We have raised the wages of doctors, teachers, police officers, military personnel, and administrative staff, but today we have finally managed to do something else. We have also introduced wage indexing, something we knew was necessary but couldn't do before. We only indexed pensions, because we couldn't leave pensioners without pension increases and without indexing, as they would be left at the mercy of inflation, and therefore when the wage increase was x, inflation, however low we have always kept it, reduced purchasing power. Today that's no longer the case, today every wage also includes inflation indexing. I say these things with passion because it is really very important that we stand with our feet on the ground, our heads held high, and look forward," said Rama.
