Famous actress Sharon Stone has criticized the way sex scenes are presented in films and series today, saying they often seem disgusting to her.
The 68-year-old spoke about this during an interview on "CBS Mornings," where she was promoting her participation in the third season of the highly popular series "Euphoria."
Since the HBO series is known for provocative content, the conversation quickly touched on the topics of nudity and intimate scenes. The prestigious award winner expressed that she does not like at all the "direct" and harsh way in which, according to her, these scenes are shown in media today.
"Today, when I come across sex scenes on TV, I usually just fast-forward through them. I don't want to watch them," said Stone, adding: "I don't want to go through that overt, rough sexuality."
She also paused at the famous scene from the 1992 film "Basic Instinct," emphasizing that the approach back then was completely different.
"It wasn't even a full shot. Precisely because of that, people persistently tried to understand what they had seen. I think that was also the essence: that 'Oh my God' feeling... that hope, that surprise, that mystery, intrigue, desireโthese are the things our deep sexuality is built upon," she explained.
Asked by the well-known host Gayle King how she felt about the scene and its impact on her career, Stone responded openly:
"Oh my God, it absolutely changed everything," she said, and then continued: "On one hand, I feel like I wasn't protected and wasn't treated properly. On the other hand, it's as if I was punished for the behavior of others."
The actress also revealed that because of that role, she lost custody of her son.
"During the custody trial, my child had to testify and answer the question of whether his mother made sexual films. They were strange and completely inappropriate things," recalled Stone.
She added that many people treated her "harshly and unkindly," as if she were "a disordered and vulgar person."
"I played a character 30 years ago. Come on, grow up," concluded Stone.
Finally, the actress also spoke about the best on-screen kiss with a Hollywood actor, describing it as a special topic.
