Shortly after arriving at Joint Base Andrews upon returning from Florida, Donald Trump told reporters he is "fine" even if Iran does not return to negotiations. "I don't care if they come back or not. If they don't come back, that's fine with me," said Trump, a day after peace talks between the U.S. and Iran in Islamabad concluded without an agreement. He added that the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran is "holding well." Trump stated that Tehran still aims to acquire nuclear weapons and made this clear during the meeting in Islamabad. "They still want it, and they made that clear that night. Iran will not have nuclear weapons," he expressed. Trump earlier said that direct talks failed because Iran "was not willing to give up its nuclear ambitions." On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that the parties were "very close" to an agreement, but Iran faced "maximalism, constantly changing conditions, and blockade."
