A serious case of pension abuse has been uncovered in Shkodër, where a postal worker withheld the life-sustaining income of three pensioners for two months, leaving them without any means of support. The incident only came to light after the intervention of the investigative program Fiks Fare, which managed to uncover the truth and force the responsible party to admit to the abuse.
Citizen Lin Zhuri approached the editorial office of Fiks Fare, reporting that his parents and his uncle's daughter-in-law had not received their pensions since February 2026. According to him, the pensions were regularly delivered to their homes by the postal worker, but suddenly the distribution stopped without any explanation. He stated that he had filed complaints at the post office, but no one had responded, only requesting that the pensions continue as before.
Journalists went to the Shkodër Post Office, where they were initially told that the postal worker was not there, but a few minutes later he appeared and asked to speak privately with the citizen, promising to bring all the money within the day and requesting that the matter not be blown out of proportion. When asked by the journalists about the reason for the delay, he justified it with personal problems, while the money was prepared for delivery in the cash register.
At that moment, the postal worker received a phone call from the post office director and returned to the institution. In a phone conversation with the journalist, the director stated that she would carry out the necessary verifications and that the April pension would be delivered within the day or the next, while for the months of February and March, the system showed they had been withdrawn, as the corresponding mandates existed. She requested a confrontation between the citizen and the postal worker to clarify the situation.
After the journalists left, the director confirmed that the April pension had been delivered but insisted that for the other two months, the payments appeared as withdrawn. However, during the confrontation organized by Fiks Fare, the postal worker publicly admitted that he had kept the pensions of the three elderly individuals for two months and had not delivered them, apologizing for his actions.
This case highlights not only individual abuse but also the lack of response from the relevant institutions, despite complaints made by citizens. The intervention of Fiks Fare proved decisive in uncovering the truth and restoring the denied rights of the three pensioners.
